Uses of Rhenium

 * Here is a list of the most common forms of rhenium usage in the United States:

*Rhenium is widely used for filaments for mass spectrographs and ion gages. thermocouples that are made of Re-W are used for measuring temperatures up to 2200C, also rhenium wire is used in photoflash lamps for photography. Rhenium catalysts are great for resistance to poisoning from nitrogen, sulfur, and phosphorus. Rhenium is used in filaments and for catalysts in the chemicals industry.

*Rhenium has no biological role in humans.

Note: Rhenium metal does not normally cause problems but all rhenium compounds should be regarded as highly toxic, although few data are available. The metal dust may prove to be a fire and explosion hazard.
